this too shall pass

i got "my best friend's wedding" on DVD last week. i think my ultimate goal is to own all the julia roberts movies i love. anyway, during the part when she's sitting outside her hotel room door while michael calls kimmie to call off the wedding, she's crying. then the bell boy (the guy from "duet") walks past and is talking to her and tells her that his grandmother used to say "this too shall pass." i really like that saying. andy used to say that to me all the time when i would wig out. and it's true. stress, heartache, pain, all of it... it all subsides. you learn, and you're a better person for it.

so i'd been wanting to blog for a while, but just didn't have the energy. my co-worker, mike, is from northern cali (sacramento area) and he was telling me about this girl he used to date who only wore pink. like really and truly, everything in her closet was pink - hot pinks, light pinks, baby pinks... every shade you can think of it. anyway, he then went on to explain she is the reason for his aversion to the color pink. that's not really the point of what i'm saying. he then talked about how she would use the word "hecca" all the time. as in "HELLA" but apparently those folks who don't like to cuss, use "hecca." i kept trying to tell him he was lying cause i've never heard of such a thing, but then we decided "hella" is a predominately northern cali thing (although adopted by some southern californians) so maybe that's why "hecca" never reached our vocabulary. i went on to confirm that she's also one of those people who used "darn" and "shucks" and he said yes. yeah, i know, i curse like a sailor, but i choose to express myself that way. and i realize i also curse in my blogs. i wouldn't edit myself in a journal, so that's why i choose to do it here. people don't have to read my blog and if i offend you with profanity... i guess it's tough doody.

camping was a fun experience. i wish the weather would have been better for us and as andy and i drove up to lake jennings on friday afternoon and the spinkles began i was feeling a little wary. he kept trying to windshield wiper them to pretend like it wasn't sprinking, but i reminded him the more he did that it just showed how often he needed to wipe the sprinkles off the windshield. there was a pretty big group of us and we spent most of our time sitting around our little fire pit doing nothing. we got to go fishing on saturday and i was the first one in my boat to catch a fish. we're supposed to be planning another camping trip so if you want to join us, keep your ears to the ground.

so, it's already april... HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY CRISSY! i hope you got my IM last friday. also, a HAPPY 31ST (holy moly!) BIRTHDAY TO MY BROTHER! btw, j, are you doing anything for your bday?

a few funnies from camping: SHE'S STANDING UP!; I don't like the airbed, it feels like a waterbed, and it also feels like I'm rolling downhill; both fidelis and meya are girls because they don't have tentacles; you caught three fish, they caught 2 fish, and their boat didn't catch any fish... oh, we're lying, we didn't really catch 3 fish, someone gave us one; what is that noise? it sounds like an airplane? oh, it's the heater.; TENT INSPECTION!!
